Following the Prime Ministers address to the nation yesterday announcing the COVID-19 alert system, and that NZ was currently at Alert Level 2, ITFNZ and Hamilton ITF TKD has decided that In order to support the reduction of person to person contact as much as possible we will temporarily cease training sessions at the dojang until further notice.

All ITFNZ events including gradings, seminars, and competitions are also cancelled until further notice.

We will however be organising virtual/on-line training sessions so please keep an eye on the club Facebook page (Hamilton NZ International Taekwon-Do) for details. Rest assured we will keep all of you up to date with developments in the coming weeks. The FB page will be your portal to the dojang until COVID-19 is under control in NZ.

Those members who pay by AP are entitled to cancel the AP until we resume dojang based training. However, the club will continue to incur expenses throughout the coming period to provide the virtual/on line sessions and to retain the ability to use the dojang as and when we require it now and in the future. Accordingly, any decisions by members to carry on with their AP in the coming period will be gratefully appreciated.

The founder of Taekwon-Do General Choi said that “anywhere under heaven is dojang”. This means you can practice TKD wherever you are. Back yards, garages, rumpus rooms, your front lawn, the local park, even your lounge are places where you can train. Patterns can be practiced, hand and foot techniques worked on, stretching and mobility maintained. The more you can do in the coming period the easier it will be for you when we resume normal dojang training.

We are living in unprecedented times and more than ever we need to look after each other and those in our community who are vulnerable – this is the martial way.

Finally, if you have any concerns or simply would like to talk please feel free to FB message us.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay strong.

 Yours in Taekwon-Do

Mr Grant Eccles – Head Instructor
